The Process


Developing a master plan requires a number of steps. First, it is important to gather information and data from many different sources in order to identify Napa's parks and recreation needs. Second, the community must be able to articulate what the ciy's park and recreation system should look like 15 years from now. A third and critical step in the process is the design of effective plan goals and strategies to achieve this vision.

 

These three planning stages can be simply understood as efforts to answer three questions:

  1. Where are we now?
  2. Where do we want to be?
  3. How do we get there?

Highlights of the first two planning stages include:

  • Analyzing current and future city demographics
  • Analyzing current park and recreation facilities, amenities, and recreation programming
  • Assessing how Napa's park and recreation facilities compare to those of similar cities

During the third state of the plan, we will develop the final plan.
