Successful planning for Napa's future means asking challenging questions and gathering thoughtful answers from community members like you! There have been numerous opportunities to become involved in the planning process during Fall 2008 and Winter 2009. Key opportunities have included:

Community Workshops - In January 2009, the City hosted 3 workshops that provided local residents the chance to learn more about the planning process and share their ideas, opinions and concerns related to parks, trails and recreation facilities in Napa. These workshops took place on the following dates:

  • Thursday, January 22, 2009, 7:00 to 9:00pm, Harvest Middle School
  • Saturday, January 24, 2009, 10:00am to 12:00pm, Napa Senior Center
  • Wednesday, January 28, 2009, 7:00 to 9:00pm, Las Flores Community Center

Outreach Event - At at least one community event this Fall, the Project Team will actively engage community members in discussion related to the plan and give them the opportunity to answer a questionnaire designed to provide an opportunity for residents to identify their favorite parks and their preferences for parks and programs in the future.

Web Survey - An online survey is available for residents to describe their parks and recreation facility preferences and priorities. The survey asks a series of close-ended questions and will also provide opportunity for open-ended responses.

Telephone Survey - A telephone survey will be conducted in late Winter 2008. If you are contacted by the survey company, please participate! The results of the survey will be posted on the project site when available.

The telephone survey is designed to:

  • Determine residents' perceptions of the Community Resources Department's provision of services
  • Assess resident's perceptions of facility and program needs
  • Evaluate residents' priorities for future park and recreation efforts
  • Gather attitudinal, demographic and behavioral information to profile park users and non-users

Focus Groups and Stakeholder Interviews - The project team conducted focus groups with community leaders and stakeholders to gain insight into community priorities, issues, perceived needs, and parks and recreation opportunities.

Additional efforts to receive feedback will include:

Presentations to City Council - At key milestones, the project team will present project updates to the City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission to keep them involved and informed. These meetings are open to the public.

Web-Based Comments and Feedback - Project staff will review and document all comments received through this website so they can help inform the development of the plan. Click here to share your thoughts!
